How to use Views Node Taxonomy Filter

Timeless: I agree; I don't see the utility of this module, other than taking a 5 minute activity and reducing it to a 1 minute activity. I've disabled the module on my own site, and used your technique instead.

Alex: Yes you can! In D6, contextual filters are called "arguments." Otherwise it works exactly the same (at least in this case).

Unfortunately, this doesn't address the original question, which was essentially "please provide documentation for this module." The community's best answer seems to be "forget about the module." I agree, but it's not a real answer.

Yes, I too wondered what this module was about when I saw it and, alas, there is only a single line on the module homepage and no real indication from the module author as to the applications of the module.

At first glance it appears to do the exact same thing you can do with core views so I will wait to hear what exactly this module is supposed to enhance before I would install and use.

Hi koppie, I tried to do this in D6 and it won't diaplay any content.. beside the fac that the Taxonomy Term ID from URL is not available in the list of options.

Just to clarify I'm asking for the same thing. I have a taxonomy term page setup with a panel and am creating a view to display a particular content type associated with the term of the taxonomay term page.

It does not seem to matter which way I go I just cannot seemt o ge this to work... any help would be greatly appreciated... its the final piece of me finishing this website

I seem to have gone around this and selected an argument when I inserted the Pane in the Panel... for some reason it works now?

Before getting into talk about "forgetting this module", please note that there are 810 active sites using it, so while documentation may be lacking, people have figured it out and are using it.

The Has taxonomy term ID contextual filter approach (which didn't exist in D6, hence this module) doesn't do two things you get with VNTF in D7:
- the ability to determine if content tagged with child terms of the matched tid should be included or not UPDATE: there is a variant "Has taxonomy term ID (with depth)" that does this.
- The ability to AND/OR the condition because it's a regular filter, not a contextual one.

Keeping this open until documentation is added.
