How do I change the page that guests see when coming to my site?

A bit hard to say, because you provide little info.. If you run on Drupal 5 you could try to go follow this trail: Administer -> User management -> Access control, and tick the appropriate check boxes for the "anonomous user" role. Specifically you should tick "access content" in the node module, and consider ticking "access comments" in the comment module (that is: if you have enabled it).
