I see TinyMCE module reverted to a 4.7 functionality (thanks, guys!). So, are there now some substantial differences, or will we have in the future 2 more or less the same modules. I believe it would be good developers to join the power, or to make it clear which features each of the modules will provide in the future. This way, we can decide with which one to go on. What do you think about?

AdrianB commentedSince the initial release of this module there has been no public activites (no CVS messages, on response on issues etc) from the developer, so my guess is that the new developement direction of the original TinyMCE module has made Moxie obsolete. But that's just my guess.

luti commentedBut, what if the TinyMCE module developer decides in the future to take some quite radical steps (making a module almost useless for some of us) again? ;-)

allie mickaI don't have strong feelings about keeping Moxie alive, as long as the original TinyMCE codebase survives *someplace*
One of the major problems overall with this module is that plenty of people are willing to offer their opinions, but few actually submit or test patches, or contribute to the project in other meaningful ways.
This probably led the original TinyMCE developer to step down, and prevented others from picking it up. Even during the big controversy, nobody was eager to step up and provide development assistance. But lots of folks needed it and I drew the short straw.
I strongly agree that there should be one main project - whether it's Moxie or TinyMCE. I also believe that we can prevent this stuff in the future by being positive and proactive, submitting accurate bug reports and patches if possible.

AdrianB commentedI'm not in the position to make patches myself, but I think good integration of TinyMCE is vital to Drupal. Maybe others like me could show support by donating instead?

allie mickaClosing issues on Moxie. This module was a workaround for maintainership issues for TinyMCE, which have long since been resolved. Please use TinyMCE!
