Looking around I just stumbled upon the Timeglider libraries. This is actually a jquery extension now, completely released under MIT license, they host their code on github.

This looks really promising to me and I think this module could gain a lot of value from supporting timeglider. First step, however, would be to implement a #1192828: plugable library support , then we could program the Timeglider as a plugin to the timeline.

I'll second this; timeglider looks good!

I third this idea.

TimeGlider solves a number of timeline needs we have and it appears to be well-thought out for today's web technologies. It would be ideal to be able to use it natively with Drupal instead of iframe or nothing.

I agree.

This issue needs maintainers for this project as all the other ones in the queue. And also probably a group of developers would be required for the timeline project itself... Pity, because timeline is really a nice piece of code.
