Since upgrading to 5.1 (across 3 of my drupal sites)

1. I cannot upload files via the File attachments function.

2. All files have disappeared from public_html/files

any suggestions?

Same problem for my with a new install of 5.1. Files act like they have uploaded but then do not show up in the /files directory.

It is unclear what the settings should be for permissions as well as public/private writable in drupal and I'm new to drupal anyway and on a hosted server (netfirms) that is on a window server I believe.

Anyway everything is working except file uploads, but since that is users on this site are going to do, I really need it to work.

Is there a magic quotes issue here?

Got me stuffed - there has been no help on this one. I thought it was just permissions but no. I'm stumped. And frustrated...

I have the same issue with a new site hosted on windows (IIS 6). Hit upload, the filename is there, but the file is not in the temp nor in the files directory after submitting. If I go back and edit the entry, the filename isnt there anymore. No apparent problems with permissions, too. 5.1 new installation developed on my desktop then moved to the server. Fixed paths to the temp directory, so this shouldnt be the problem. Anyone have ideas?

According to http://drupal.org/node/121467, turning your favicon back on fixes the problem.

I had the same issue as you guys with 5.1, and when I turned the favicon on for the theme, it started working again.

I've had the same problems with Drupal 6.9 on Vista/IIS7 (IE, Firefox, Chrome).

First the annoying Javascript popup was appearing, and after I turned the javascript OFF in the browser, the PHP error (move_uploaded_file error) began to appear.

The thing was that write privileges for IIS accont were not set on both temporary (C:\Windows\Temp) and final upload folder (\sites\default). After I gave Full control to this folders for user IUSR everything worked well.
