Promise is a tool to organize and motivate members of a community to take action. People often feel like they can’t make a difference alone. Promise allow people to say, “I’ll do this activity if (a specific number) of people agree to do the same.” The tool then allows the creator of the promise to promote the promise through email, writing stories, and starting discussions. People who don’t have a project they’d like to start can come to the site and join promises that others have made.

This site is being designed by journalists for journalists. News viewers and readers are losing interest in the stories the news covers. This tool will give journalists a way to offer their audience an outlet to take action and get involved in solving the public problems they see in the news.
