Hello drupal community. I just started using drupal 5 about 2 weeks ago. i have to say after learning alot about drupal my site is starting to look the way i like it. My main issues is with the forums. here is what i have done so far.
1. installed flat forms this help a lot so far
2. changed the comment.module so that the reply button is removed ( i want the forum to be linear not have replies to specific comments)
3. installed quote, bbcode, and a bbcode formating bar
Here are my existing problems
1. pictures and embeded videos pop out of the boxes in firefox( Ie seems to resize them correctly)
2. sometimes boxes will overlap each other (ive only noticed it in firefox so far)
3. i would like to replace the delete, quote, and edit links with buttons ( i found where to change in php and tried something recomended for 4.7 which no longer works)
4. embed code doesnt work and the embed filter is only for 4.7 as far as i can tell
5. i think the boxes could look a little nices shape wise
6. I would like to set a default comment viewing option and not allow users to change it

Now i know that forums are a kinda touchy and alot of people have problems with them. If i cant get these things working right i was concidering trying the vbdrupal fork so if anyone has ever given that a try i would love to hear your comments on it.
anything anyone can help me out with here is greatly appreciated. also if someone here is experienced at modding drupal forums i might be willing to hire a bit of temporary help to get the site launched. Thanks alot everyone

Yep im commenting my own post to bump it up. so am i screwed here? i mean i see this few sites that have nice drupal forums that were probably fully re-programed by php gurus do i stand a chance here to get a forum out of this or should i just hang up the drupal and look somewhere else? anybody? people seem to avoid talking about the forums like it is the plague.
