Here's an initial attempt at getting Rules support. This adds a Rules action to send mail to a mailing list.

Oops, left a dpm() in there by mistake. Updated patch removes it.

That would be a good feature for this module. However, at this point there is no further development for the 7.x branch. I am currently the only active maintainer and I'm only working in the 8.x branch. Closing now, but please, re-open if someone else wants to continue their implementation for the 7.x branch. The 8.x is entirely based on entities, so it has general rules support.
