I installed cURL, as well as the libraries API after many attempts to get this to work and still no luck. The library is in the correct folder (sites/all/libraries/OpenInviter) and permissions are set to 777. What needs to be done, or should I try the dev version? Thanks.

Can you confirm that this file exists:

sites/all/libraries/OpenInviter/openinviter.php

Also you marked the version as beta1. If you are indeed using a version that old you might consider upgrading to 1.1.

I upgraded the module to 1.1.

The file sites/all/libraries/OpenInviter/openinviter.php certainly does exist. Its permissions are set to 777 as are the permissions for the rest of the library.

No luck. I have the same error messages in my status report and no access to my contact importer provider setup page even after I upgraded and cleared all the caches.

This sounds like something unique to your site. You might try using the Libraries API as well:
http://drupal.org/project/libraries

I already have the API installed. Anything to tweak there?

I will try this on another of my sites as well and see what happens.

Hmmm, you might also try without Libraries API. Libraries API is mostly only useful if you have multiple versions of a library.

Deactivated and uninstalled the Libraries API and no change. I am now upgrading to the latest version of OpenInviter. I use the regular, not the hosted solution, right?

Got it to work - thanks!

I'm also experiencing the same issue. ISchier - can you tell me which version of OpenInviter you installed?

Ah, never mind. Realized that I needed to install the general package and not the drupal package - directly into libraries.
