Cannot reproduce your location example ( Canada, Alberta etc...)

I have found another small issue:
I cannot make it work with the following vocab configuration:
"Multi select" is not selected
"Required" is selected.
(which I think is like your location screeshot).
But after doing this, I cannot submit the page.
The only way to submit is to click on " multi select" ( but then my users may choose several terms and i don't want that) or deselect required ( but then my users may submit the node without selecting any terms and I don't want that as well).
