For some reason it is only possible to create subfolders in the top level. When I then select the new subfolder, the Directory option disappears.

I have ticked the "Including subdirectories" in the IMCE profile, which I take as the settings should apply to subfolders as well.

Ignore this. I just discovered the "Maximum number of subdirectories" setting and now subfolders are working as I want them :)
