Only local images are allowed.

Displaying both the Alt and Title tags from Imagecache images would be very helpful in SEO.

You want alt and title for the image when it is show in the overlay? If this is for seo, it is useless, as a search bot do not run javascript in a page to see image/links created by javascript.
