Google Plus looks like a good way to bring an audience / build community both on Google and on a Drupal site.

A combination of elements from StumbleUpon (Google Sparks), some of the ideas of MeetUp (Huddle / Hangouts) combined with some of the ideas of Doodle, minus the collaborative formal scheduling, which could be added with some connection to Google Calendar or Doodle. The idea that people can see and interact directly with all groups at once is appealing. Online services like Google & Yahoo Groups has never had this before.

In short, I think that some kind of combination of Google+, OpenTok and maybe Doodle / Google Calendar (they just added some collaborative scheduling capabilities) for those more formal scheduling requirements than Huddle / Hangouts provides. An integration with Google Maps / Latitude could inform users when their friends or people with compatible interests are nearby. These projects provide for potentially efficient and aesthetically pleasing display of space & time info:

Car sharing / pooling is a possible good use of such a combination because:

There is no good drupal solution for this.
Car poolers would benefit from interest matching with other potential car poolers.
Complexities of scheduling+logistics can be worked on more efficiently by all humans together in Huddles & Hangouts. This could be a good use for Google Maps / Latitude integration, which will probably come into Google+ eventually.

Here are some some thoughts on Car pooling with Drupal:

Today I tried the "hangout" feature on Google+. It worked very well on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with Chromium 12.0.742.112 (90304).

Some of these projects may have code useful for integration between Google+ & Drupal 7

This could be especially useful when Google starts to bring in their vast locative information from latitude, maps, earth, etc.

Thanks for your efforts,
