I've installed the weblinks module and I can create a weblink but I'm struggling to find useful functionality with this module.

As far as I can tell, I can only create one individuaL page for each single weblink with the only other option being to also publish each to the front page.

What I need to create is a page with a list of links and teaser descriptions with the additional option of having the weblink appear on an appropriate category page, like a Page or a Story. I guess what I hope to find is the Category dropdowns I see when I create a Page, Story or Category.

Should this be possible with "Weblinks Module"?

If not, is there a links module that can do this?

I'm also trying LinksDB. With that one it seems my option is to have one single page with all the links for the site on that one page as opposed to a separate page for each link.

Maybe html is the way I should go for my site links .... :?

"All links are nodes, which can be put into taxonomies/categories and administered."

I'm guessing that "categories" doesn't have anything to do with the "Categories" (either of them, there are two actually) I see in Administration, especially of they can "be put into categories" but are still limited to being all on the same page.

Unless someone smarter than me can tell me what I'm doing wrong with weblinks I think the only way I can accomplish what I need is by creating a "story" for each every link I wish to post. Then I can at least place them on the pages where I need them. The only problem with that is that I can't get a hyperlink into the title but it didn't seem like any of the link management modules allowed that anyways.

If any of them (link modules) can do what I need, it is nowhere near apparent, nevermind accessible to this non-expert.

All right, here was the problem. (I'm probably still talking to myself though)

I was looking for the 'category' dropdown in my weblink configuration page. It wasn't appearing.

After trying aboot a million arcane and mysterious settings hidden in every odd place I could find under 'administer' I finally located 'container display' settings in admin/category, edit container. By default, my containers were not configured to allow any of the node types to be associated with categories under those containers.

That hadn't been the setting because I was previously able to publish multiple nodes of multiple content types under multiple categories.

I think that the default may have changed after performing a bulk edit to remove the "no posts in this category" message. I was so happy at the time to finally locate a setting to remove that message that that I tried out bulk edit.

The unintended consequences of the bulk edit that I was focused on at the time though was the sudden undesired appearance of about 90 custom menu items that I had previously already deleted (one or more times). Yikes.
