Compatibility problem with role_delegation module (role_expire 6.x-1.5) [#1212712]

It's a slight duplication of the issue #831232: Problem working with role delegation module for non admin/uid 1
The module is incompatible with role_delagation. This patch intend to fix it for role_expire version 6.x-1.5 (based on jessehs' patch, thanks).

Thanks for the patch. By code inspection, this patch looks pretty good. I'd like to apply the patch along with role_delegation and give it a spin with 6.x-1.11 and see if it works. If it does, then I don't see any reason why it can't be included in 6.x-1.12.
