Solve installation errors in Drupal 6

To install Drupal 6, you need to have several permissions properly set in your file system. This is required to ensure that Drupal can create the required files and everything will work smoothly right the first time you visit your newly installed Drupal site.

Drupal 6 checks for the availability of Javascript during the install process. This check sets a cookie to indicate that Javascript is available for the session. Because of this reinstalling or visiting page with Javascript on and then turn Javascript off the installation process will fail. These are session cookies so they can be removed by restarting the web browser or clearing cookies from the web browser.
