Drupal profile: minimal install at 7.0 (7.4 upgrade now), CKEditor 7.x-1.2, CKEditor 3.6.1, PHP 5.3.3.
Yet another CKEditor question, my apologies. I have sifted through quite a bit of posts an have yet to come across a coherent explanation as to why the editor does not load properly. Most of the forum posts circle around did you install the application/library and the module (yes), did you place it in the sites/all/libraries or sites/all/modules/ckeditor folder (yes, I tried both), did you set up proper Text Formats (yes, Full HTML and Basic HTML) and CKEDITOR profiles (yes, FULL_HTML and Basic_HTML), go back to the 7.x-1.-dev, etc.
Everything actually works through the configuration screens, the option to set "Rich text editor settings" appears in my user profile, the "Status report" screen shows that I have the 3.6.1 CKEditor library, and when I go to any piece of content where the editor should be exposed it is not. The text formats work in limiting the HTML that I specified.
*** However, after entering any piece of content into the textarea and selecting "Preview" the editor appears and seems to be functioning properly (need to test more than just b,i,em and some other basic markup). The question is how do I get it to appear after selecting the text format - either Basic HTML or Full HTML - on the intial screen?
Thanks for the help.

Complete reinstall
Sometimes when I'm having problems with the ckeditor module (my WYSIWYG editor of choice for Drupal), I find that if I completely uninstall it (disable in modules screen and uninstall), then re-enable it, it works fine. Have you tried this yet? Also, clearing your site's cache can't hurt too.
Complete reinstall
Thanks for responding to the post. What versions of Drupal, the CKEditor module and CKEditor library are you running successfully?
Well, I have tried disabling it in the modules screen, clearing cache but whenever I get back I noticed that the permission are repopulated and the CKEditor profiles are in tact. Wouldn't those be wiped out with a clean install?
I also seem to get an error message in the CKEditor Global Profile screen that reads "Notice: Undefined index: loadPlugins in ckeditor_admin_values_to_settings() (line 1156 of /var/www/html/sites/all/modules/ckeditor/includes/ckeditor.admin.inc)."
I'm currently using the
I'm currently using the latest versions: Drupal 7; CKEditor 3.6.1; CKEditor 7.x-1.2.
Did you also uninstall the CKEditor module, not just disable it? If you disable and then enable the module without uninstalling it, all of the configuration settings will come back as they continue to be stored in the database. You must uninstall it completely.
Confirm CKEditor on fresh install
Just as a test I did a fresh install of Drupal 7.4 (standard), CKEditor 7.x-1.2 and 3.6.1 and the editor DOES appear without any apparent problems.
This still has me stuck now on my built out installation with all of my taxonomies and content types defined so now I need to figure out where to invest the time. I did a minimal install so I am not sure what other module dependency(ies) exists (have to work my way through it) or what may be throwing it off; I can get the CKEditor to appear only after entering something in the textarea and then selecting "preview" - a hack I don't want our users to go through. This seems like it is tied to form states?
Anyway, the proof is there that CKEditor does work on a clean install so I need to figure out what may have happened. Thanks for the help; and yes I was not uninstalling it but merely deleting the module and library on each attempt. But I did try that and had the same issues. if I end up figuring it out I will post the results.
