I've been tearing my hair out about this one. I couldn't get Node Images to work. Kept getting message "can't attach images to this node" so then, just to check the main Upload module was working, I just tried uploading a txt document and I would get the upload bar animating....then nothing. No error message, no attachment, nothing.

I have user permissions set to allow anonymouse AND authenticated users to upload default list of image and doc types.

uploads enabled for that node type.

permissions for File folder set at 666

is there anything I'm forgetting? What have people found in the past to have stopped Upload module working and giving this type of malfunction?

It was a server problem. I had auto-installed using Fantastico which obviously messed something up. the problem solved when I manually installed. No issue with Drupal itself.
