Maybe this is already possible, but I'd like to be able to (learn how to?) set up events that are visible only to certain roles. I want a calendar on my site with public events visible to all, plus certain events only visible to authenticated users, and certain others visible only to paid members. Taxonomy filters don't do what I want.

I use the taxonomy_access module in 4.7.6 with great success.

Taxonomy access will still do this in 5 and the original poster hasn't said anything more, so marking this fixed.
