Pardon for asking but how do you use nested lists within the standard text formatting tags?

I havent actually tried, but I dont think this is possible atm. Module stf.tags is a very simple one and not designed for advanced formatting. Thats why it is called 'Simple Text Formatting' ;) If you volunteer to create a patch for nested lists, I'll be happy to commit it. But I suggest you simply use a wiki/latex/etc. filter instead ...

This version of Rep[lacement]Tags is not supported anymore. The issue is closed for this reason.
