Drupal 7 isn't quite the norm yet, as it has a long way to go before other modules can catch up. You should dev for both 6 and 7.

I'm not going to do this, especially because I'm not interested in update paths from CCK to D7 fields. The two systems are quite different, so it's not a simple matter to backport. If anyone is interested in writing CCK integration and maintaining an update path, I'd be willing to consider it.
