Hi,

I'm getting this error every time i try to install my profile. It happens for random modules. Sometimes for ctools, sometimes i18n and sometimes other. But it constantly is there for at least one module or theme which prevents me effectively from installing my dist :]. I think that could be due to d.o servers running sloopy lately.

Does anyone else experience this issue or it's just me?

Please run the makefile again with --debug. For now I've added better error handling to this scenario.

I'm having this same issue, but for *all* of the modules and themes listed in my makefile. This is with a makefile that successfully built two weeks ago. I'm using drush 4.6-dev and drush make 2.3. I've tried upgrading and downgrading drush, and tried the dev version of drush make but always get the same or similar behavior. Every time it reports the "Could not retrieve version information" error, it complains about "non-existent project type on" a particular custom theme. I tried removing that theme from the makefile but it did not help. Here is a sample of the output from --debug:

I also noticed a different pattern of errors showing up for non d.o projects, and noticed that it sometimes spits out "6.x" in the output and leaves an empty file named "6.x" in my working directory.

It turns out my issue was because code.developmentseed.org is no more. What threw me off is that drush make complained about every project defined in the makefile, not just Tao and Rubik.

Drush make is moving into drush core (discussed in issue: #1310130: Put drush make in drush core)
This means that the issue queue is also moving. The Drush project has a component called 'Make' for this purpose.

We would like to take this opportunity to leave behind old/obsolete issues, allowing us to focus on a stable make command in core.

If you feel that this issue is still relevant after the move, feel free to re-open and move it to the Drush queue
