I've been using this version for the last 15 days. It seems pretty stable so I consider it ready for production. The module was entirely rewrote. It now depends on other modules to give grants to a node and it just propagates the grants to the node's descendants.

Significant functionality left out of the previous releases. (Apologies for the rocky start, if I'd known how to release as "Beta" when I first did this I would have..)
Previous versions of this module (if anyone got it installed) had a hard-to-notice bug where in some cases node permissions were too generous (I was building the access tree in two places, for individual nodes assigned to users and again for each node, instead of just one place!)
If you have difficulty uninstalling a previous version, replace with this one first (but still do uninstall and then reinstall).
