Hi,

I tried adding a Node Reference field with a Reference From URL widget to a Commerce (RC1) Product, but got none of the functionality. Would be really nice to have!

Now that you can add Node Reference fields to any number of things (Users, Comments, Terms, and in your case, Products), we may need to think about how to handle all of them in a generic Field-friendly manner. The issue at #1177664: Make the "Add reference" link usable through hook_field_extra_fields() would be a start to this functionality at least, but we'll need quite a bit more thinking to get this module working with things other than nodes.
