We are having to make some quick decisions here regarding Evanced vs. events in Drupal, and we've been pointed more than once in this module's direction.
There have been no commits to this module in ten months, and the code is marked as alpha. Both of these concern me. My big questions:
Please don't get me wrong; I am grateful this code even exists, but I have to ask the hard questions about maintenance and stability before we consider depending on it.

kreuter1. Yes, this module is still being maintained!
2. The code is currently maintained just by us at Worthington Libraries, though we're certainly open to co-maintainers.
3. The code is actually quite stable. We've been using it as-is on several of our own external and internal websites for well over a year and quite a few folks have downloaded it and are using it successfully, too. We released it initially as an alpha version since it had never been installed elsewhere than our own sites. Your inquiry has reminded us that we really ought to make some updates to the code and change the release status.
4. It will be a while before we're able to update our sites to D7 and we haven't yet had a chance to test the module. We'd be happy for feedback on its compatibility and/or help updating it. (See #1.)
Thanks for your interest!

rpeters commentedWhen do you expect the release the release of this module?
kreuterFunny you should ask! We expect to release a full D6 version with a bug fix and some new features in the next few weeks. Although it's nominally an alpha version, the current release is still quite stable and usable.
We hope to be able to release a D7 development version in the same timeframe.
Thanks for your interest!

rpeters commentedSo does this mean you will have a D7 in a couple weeks?
kreuterYes, we hope to have a D7 version in a few weeks. Note that it will be a development version, not necessarily a stable release.
