Make Views show recent posts differently...

I'm currently trying to make Views show the following (if I need to use something else, I'm willing to switch)...

In a block view I would like to show the most recent story node with full title and teaser, then all posts after that as just a list view. I tried using two different blocks, one just to show the most recent post, then another block showing all posts in a list view, but the first post in the list view is the most recent post - so it's there twice.

Can this be done? If so, how?
