Would it be possible to add something to the code that would allow an anonymous user to click on the "contact the advertiser" link, then have a new text field open up immediately below with a discrete contact form?

No new feature like inline editing for Drupal 6.x: the current version of Drupal core has been 7.x for almost one year now.

Bumping to 7.x. Won't fix for 6.x.
