rwohlebA Drupal 5 version is in the works. It's taking longer than I wish due to midterms, blah, blah, blah :)

Operations-1 commentedthanks for the answer... do you have an ETA? 3 days? a week? a month?
with this module, and others, is possible to build a LMS even better than moodle or ATutor...
thanks man...
rwohlebUnfortunately, I have no ETA.
As much as I would love to compete with Moodle, we are far from it. Think of Moodle as the do-everything LMS, while we are the light-weight agile LMS. The trouble with Moodle being so powerful, is that many try to make it do CMS stuff, where Drupal is really better. If you need Moodle features, use it in combination with Drupal.
At present, Gradebook still needs a lot of testing.

Operations-1 commentedwhat i mean about moodle competition is that drupal has so many modules that can replace moodle funcionality:
- Groups: OG
- Forum: Core
- Posting Videos: Video
- Posting Audio: Audio
- Posting Images: Image
- Wiki: Wikitools + freelinking +Pearwiki
- Event Management: Event, Eventrepeat, Calendar and Date
- Structured content: CCK + addons
- Access control: many modules...
- Extremely powerful CMS: drupal itself...
Plus, E-Commerce, Advertisement, Google integration (adsense, sitemap, analitycs etc)...
What Drupal 5 lacks is a gradebook... We can easily emulate a very, very good LMS with drupal and all these modules....
I hope the gradebook is out soon...
regards

rwohlebSpeaking of which, I also need to port the OG_Gradebook module to Drupal 5.
Drupal offers a lot, but does NOT offer LMS functionality out of the box, even with Gradebook. We have a group that is looking at how best to accomplish this.
I developed Gradebook with the idea that a gradebook is central to any LMS. However, there is still a LOT missing. The Moodle quiz module, for example, is pretty impressive. Moodles meta-course functionality is also used by many larger institutions. We'll need more developers than just me to get the required LMS functionality.

femrich commentedi will be waiting in the wings for a 5.x version of Gradebook and OG_Gradebook. Glad to hear someone is working on this.

MGN commentedDrupal 5 development release of gradebook was released over a year ago. While testers are still needed to get to an official release, I think this issue can be closed.
