Hello,

I don’t really like to do this, there may be a better way to do so but I can’t find it now, so here I post a request, hoping (more-or-less) that it is already possible).

I would like anonymous user to see two possibilities for input format:

  • filtered HTML,
  • Full HTML, greyed out. There would be a text, like You have to register to be allowed Full HTML.

I see it as an incentive to register, as well as a evidence for users that my site allows more that what they can see.

I hope I have been clear. Any thoughts on this? Is there a module already allowing this?

Thank you.

An additional feature would be that registered users would be allowed to post straight, without forced preview (since they are registered, they can edit a message, so forced preview is much less interesting, if at all).

The preview option can be changed by going to admin/content/node-settings. Unfortunately, this is a site-wide setting, not per-role.

You could get around this using a method similar to my suggestion below: use hook_form_alter() to remove the submit button for anonymous users (unless they are currently previewing the node, of course).

There are only two ways of doing this, from what I can see.

  1. Hack the filter_form() function in filter.module to do what you want.
Note: I never recommend hacking core files!
  2. Write your own module to override the form elements (using hook_form_alter()). Information on the form API can be found here. This is by far the cleanest approach.

Either way, the form API has quite a learning curve. It is difficult at first, but by no means impossible, especially if you are comfortable working with PHP.

Hope this little bit of information helps.

EDIT: corrected the hook name

Thank you for these informations,

I don’t know PHP so this is a dead-end for me, but at least I now the solution is known. I think I will wait someone to write such a module, since learning PHP then Drupal’s API is too much for me.

Thank you again!

Hello,

Is it possible to track a discussion without replying to it? This time, I just posted a reply, by what if I wanted just to track, with no reply?

Thank you.

No, there is not currently a way to track a discussion without replying to it.
