Brief: I am using QuickTabs on the page above which uses BLOCKS for each TAB within a MAIN block on the page. My question is, is it possible to hide the sidebar when the user navigates to certain TABS/BLOCKS? They remain on the same page so I am not sure if this is doable.

Not without some custom javascript since as you pointed out the page does not reload.
