JohnnyX commentedHello,
I need private taxonomy for Drupal 7 to work with access by terms module. Users should only set/ use own terms and not terms from other users.

JohnnyX commentedAre you working on a D7 port?

trobey commentedI have heard that onekenthomas is no longer interested in taking over as the maintainer of this module. I have done quite a bit of work on this module for Drupal 6 and would like to become maintainer and make that work available to others. It does not make sense to port this to Drupal 7 when there is not a Drupal 6 release but as soon as I can get a Drupal 6 release out I would start on a port.

trobey commentedAttached is an Drupal 6 update for the private_taxonomy module. There are some bug fixes. In addition there now is a permission for 'administer own taxonomy' that allows users to maintain their taxonomy terms. By having a permission, site administrators can restrict this capability to selected roles. This allows users with the new permission to go to the taxonomy admin pages and see only the terms that belong to them and maintain them.
As far as new features, this update also has administrative settings. With the capability for each user to have their own terms the number of terms can multiply rapidly. The administrative settings allow terms for a specified user (admin is the default) to be cloned for new users. There also is the capability to clone the default terms for exisiting users to assist in installation of this module into existing sites that may have a lot of users. Listing terms in a vocabulary may become overwhelming for the administrator if there are a significant number of users, each with their own terms. For this I would recommend installing the Masquerade module to allow administering a particular user's terms. I added a column to the admin page for listing terms that shows the owner of the term.
I posted the entire module because there is a lot of new code added although the structure of the existing module is maintained. It is not a complete rewrite but there may be as much new code as existing code.
I think I will start on a Drupal 7 port shortly while the code is still fresh in my mind.

trobey commentedHere is a port of Private Taxonomy to Drupal 7. I also fixed a few problems I noticed in the Drupal 6 version while I was doing the port. The Drupal 7 version has had limited testing for functionality so it is designated as a beta.
