Creating Personalized Registrations?

I'm looking to create a specialized user registration that would take new users to different registration forms based on selecting a key component.

In other words, when registering, I would want users to select X, Y, or Z as their "role," and then based on that, there are completely different registration processes they go through. They would also have different profiles, but I'm sure that can be handled by the "Profile as Content" module.

Anyone have any advice on making this happen?
