Getting Involved Guide needs content work (cleanup and content to support revised landing page) [#1237414]

The results of the content audit for the Getting Involved Guide are in this spreadsheet, sorted by Node title:

Contributors with excellent written English skills are needed to clean up these nodes. To participate
1) comment here to request edit access
2) cleaning up the nodes based on the annotation suggestions, and the flags

I am cleaning up the Events section and graying out lines as I complete the cleanup.
