This looks *exactly* like what I need - basically I want my Drupal site to store files over at my S3 account instead of locally at /sites/default/files... The only problem is that we're running Drupal 6 on this specific site and I wanted to see if a Druxpal 6 release for this module is planned.

If you aren't releasing for D6, do you have any recommendations for module replacements instead of say, using Fuze a la http://drupal.org/node/996016 ?

Sorry, no plans to release this for Drupal 6 as it doesn't have any stream wrapper support. Not sure of any alternatives for Drupal 6 as I haven't tried to do it.

Its a real shame to hear this - I'm working with Rackspace right now to see if they can setup cloudfuse to replace the local files directory with a Cloud Files-mounted directory... but it doesn't seem as elegant as this module.
