Does anyone know how to have an IRC chat box or something on my drupal site? I tried phpfreechat, but it's too laggy.

Meebo Me
You could create a Meebo Me widget and put it on your site. I did this over at http://www.aroundthebaymovie.com/ and it seems to work well for them.
It's only 1on1 IM, but works well enough. If you're looking for more of a chat style functionality where many folks type at once... I don't know.
