Hello - yesterday I worked on a site where I was able to create Apparel products and, using the Subproduct API, give each product attributes within the same node. An example on this site is: http://www.nativecoffee.info/node/39
However today, after following the same process, for some reason when I generate a content entry with subproducts, it creates a separate category node for each attribute. You can see what I mean here: http://organicgrace.info/taxonomy/term/1
I can't understand why it is doing this, and I've tried a lot of different things to try and remedy it. So I am posting in hopes someone else has had this problem and fixed it, or knows what's going on. Thanks,
Jim

fixed it
never mind - you have to go to each node and select "none" under the category pop-up. Maybe this will help someone else, though. It seems weird that I didn't have to do this with the other site - but this site I did. Oh well.
1 clarification
Only moving to "none" the nodes that were generated as an attribute. Obviously you want to keep the main product in the appropriate category.
(btw, this is kind of fun replying to one's own posts here. At least there are replys that way!)
i have found the best thing
i have found the best thing to do is to use views to display listings of products. There is a views filter for subproducts called Master Product. Setting this filter to master will only show your base product nodes, not the subproduct ones. Plus using views gives you alot more flexibility.

Thanks & 1 more question
Thank you for that information - I appreciate it. One other thing I'm wondering about is I've created a variety of variations and attributes to encompass all the options for a category, but don't want to apply them all to every product. However, after I select the appropriate attributes, it displays the other variations as greyed out in the node (ex - http://www.organicgrace.info/node/40) . This looks bad (and is pointless) -- is there a way to make only the generated variations (and attributes) show up in each node as one would expect?? That would be a lot better!!
Thanks again,
jim
Same problem
I've the same problem as you Jim ! Is there a solution ?
Olivier
It doesn't fix the problem for the search module.
It doesn't fix the problem for the search module.
When you search a product, all subproducts are display.
Any other solution ?
