missing user profiles

I have set up the registration form so that is populates the user database and the fields used by the address part of the ecommerce module.

This worked a treat last week, I added a new user under their own login, and I was able to use the profile display page to list this new member and their address, and have this user editable.

A user has just signed up, and now they are not appearing in the public user list or this profile page. I’ve checked the permissions and settings, and have come to a grinding halt.

Any ideas of how to fix this, or of a better solution?
