I want to create separate vocabularies and taxonomies for each organic group.

In Drupal 6, this could be done with the OG Vocabulary (http://drupal.org/project/og_vocab) module, but it is not yet ported to Drupal 7.

Is there any alternative to OG Vocabulary or some workaround to assign vocabularies to organic groups?

The only way I see is to create different group content types for different groups and then assign a separate vocabulary to each group content type. But that seems too complicated and not scalable. Any other ideas?

Were you able to find a solution? I too, am having the same issue. I would love to create a baseline set of terms in which one group change add/remove terms that will not effect other groups.
