There is an easy work around for this one, so I have marked it as "minor."

After disabling the events/calendar feature, the "Upcoming Events" block remains on the front page.

The work around:

  • Re-enable Events Calendar
  • Go to cp/appearance
  • Under "Widget Layout" choose "Site front page"
  • Click the (x) to turn off "Upcoming Events" block
  • Save Settings
  • Disable Events Calendar at cp/features
