Dear twitter maintainers,

I was about to add a twitter feed to the Drupal 7 site I am developing, and found that the most stable solution so far is at http://www.drupal.javatomic.com/content/twitter-block-drupal-7.

I have also seen in the issue queue that there is no timeline for achieving a twitter feed block for Drupal 7. Furthermore, looking at the project description I can see that it is outdated and the commit log shows that there has been low activity in the last two months.

I believe this is a critical module for Drupal 7 (16882 installs!) and that needs to be ready and stable as soon as possible. I am very keen in helping with the port and bug fixing and hence would like to be a maintainer. I did a successful migration of the Freelinking module starting by adding functional tests to the Drupal 6 version and then porting the tests to the Drupal 7 version in order to ensure consistent results.

Looking forward for your thoughts.

I agree, this is a crucial module for D7. I'm happy to lend a hand, too.

It looks like the mantle of "Maintainer" is up for grabs. You are a courageous human to step into this breach! I guess we just need to await the blessing of the Drupal overlords?

Let's see if we can push this forward.

juampy, if you are still interested in maintaining this module, you should contact the current maintainers directly since they have not responded to this request in over a month.
michaek is probably your best bet to get a response, but you could also try any/all of the other committers.

if you still do not receive a response, move this issue to the Webmaster's queue following the abandoned projects protocol.

<rant>Given that some of the supposed core principals in moving Drupal forward for D7 and D8 are mobile, social media, and web services, it's completely ridiculous that this module still languishes.</rant>

@aaronbauman - I totally agree on all counts, except: unfortunately, I don't have the power to add folks as maintainers.

+1 for this.

I desperately need this module for my site, so I'm happy to lend a hand fixing bugs. I was going to get started on one issue a day, but this seems so much more helpful!

Until I get a response from the maintainer (I believe is @eaton), I have started solving issues and pushing patches to https://github.com/juampy72/twitter.

Patches and reviews are welcome, please check the issue queue.

I wonder how many tweets will have missed being passed on through Drupal sites since the last commit to this module......

@juampy, got your ping via IRC. Presuming you tapped me as one of the other committers. Sorry, I have no ability to add you as co-maint either, but I definitely support your application ... this module needs someone badly.

When working on the D7 port some months back, I contacted the then maintainers to discuss but also had no reply. I think I put my hand up as co-maint at some stage - still happy to assist if you/micheak want another pair of hands.

If walkah & eaton are unable to respond to offers of assistance and micheak hasn't been given permission to assign new maintainers, then let's get the ball rolling with the abandoned projects process. I suspect this hasn't happened yet largely out of respect for Jeff & James, but perhaps the most respectful thing to do is to help them and the wider community by moving this along.

Dear webmasters, I have spent a few weeks trying to contact any of the project maintainers without success. Please consider giving me commit, release and edit rights on this project.

Cheers

Hey gang. As I've told those who have contacted me privately - I no longer have the time to maintain this module, which is why I transferred maintenance to eaton. I know he's added a co-maintainer, but perhaps that's not working out.

Either way, I hope the situation gets resolved, but that decision is up to eaton.

Juampy, I just got a ping from walkah and he caught me up on the situation: I've added you as a co-maintainer, issue maintainer, and release manager. before fully turning over the project proper, I'd like to chat with you about the module's future; while I haven't had a chance to maintain it, a couple people have threatened to lynch me if I don't at least chat with the person who I hand it off to ;-) Feel free to ping me on IRC, and thanks for being willing to take it on.

Great! Thanks for giving me the chance.

I will have little time over the weekend but I look for you on IRC since Monday. In the meantime I may apply a couple of commits RBTC.

Cheers
