Hey guys, i'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but i looked around and this seems to be the only forum. I work at a company that sends safety technicians to oil rigs and pipelines to supervise projects, looking for hazards and making sure are guys doing things correctly/safely. Each of these employers are issued a laptop, a mobile printer, and a padded back pack. Right now we have quickly grown to about 200 employees and counting, and the current way (spreadsheet) we manage who was issued what equipment and when they returned it, is not cutting it anymore and is becoming a hornets nest as now multiple people are involved in issuing and receiving equipment. Will MERCI work for this setup?

We need to import 200+ uniquely serial numbered dell laptops (i see that there is an import csv feature), 200+ uniquely serial numbered mobile canon printers, and match/attach them to 200 uniquely names employees. So that we know who has what, and which machines aren't assigned/checked out, so we can then assign it to a new hire. And if someone was to quit or be fired we can add their machine back into the pool. Thanks for your time.

Merci is more time based. It's mainly a reservation system. It does have an inventory component. But it sounds like you need to just attach users to equipment. You can do this by adding a cck user reference field. So, you have a whole bunch of items. When you assign an item you update the user field.

I guess i'll have to try familiarize myself more with merci, because that sounded like greek to me. :)
