I used to work with the Open Media Lending Database (http://opendb.iamvegan.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page) and really loved the option to just enter a movie title and grab the corresponding IMDB data (later even Amazon) with one click. Since it is a GPL project and the IMDB-Import is fairly modular it should be possible to adopt this functionality for your project.

tatxe commentedYeah... this will be great. I have more than 300 movies and If I cant save time adding all the titles I'll be glad :-D

zis commentedI had this functionality in mind since the beginning. I will implement it soon. It is much easier to implement it using the imdb id instead of the movie title though.

penwing commentedbe better yet if you can get the cuecat (it pretends it's a keyboard and sends an encypted version of the barcode to the computer as the keyboard would) data and turn it into an AISN (just the barcode really). I know other projects do this, and I'm pretty sure the knowhow to decrypt the cuecat input (output???) is documented somewhere (probably even a php library... one at http://terbidium.com/content/projects/opensource/ in fact...).

antiquebathtub commentedI am thinking of switching to drupal from wordpress, and there is a plugin for wordpress that accomplishes almost exactly what is being asked for here from IMDb, however it is no longer in development and with the constant updates to the IMDb system, the plugin needs updating every few months. Here's a link to an earlier version of the plugin: http://weirdsilence.net/software/rummovie/ (the newest version of the plugin is 1.3, however the author's site is currently down). If anyone was willing to port this to drupal, that would be amazing.
