Image title breaks/won't render when set to textarea in imagefield settings

Ok, i don't think this is a duplicate because other title/description issues don't quite match this issue.

I created a content type.
I create an imagefield widget.
I enable custom title field.
I choose textarea as the option for displaying the form for the title field.
I fill in the title field.
I created an imagecache preset.
I set my display fields in my content type to be imagecache_preset->original

when i click my thumbnail, the lightbox renders the image but not the title field.

Further the title renders when i choose textfield as the option for displaying the form for the title field.

Is this a bug? I would really like to be able to present the image title form to the user as a textarea so they can add line breaks without knowing html.

If there is any workaround I would be grateful.
