Can we please get an official release for use with the update status module? I'm willing to do it if you want.

I am in favour of this.

this module still needs compatibility with the update status module.
dev version of april 10, 2007 shows as "no file date available".
perhaps it only needs repackaging to regenerate the info file.
the original title of this task is "official release".
packaging for an official release is also needed.

An official release will be rolled once the buggies in the queue get looked at.
