This is confusing me.
I don't understand the difference between "Manage Display" in Content Types and the other in Manage Display in Media>File types

at one point I had playable videos - then changed the theme and now only have non-playable images or worse just a black box

Reading the posts regarding how to post a Youtube url (like the old emvideo) in D7 seems to be confusing a lot of people.

I'm sure we're making it harder than it is - but just the same there is confusion here. I think that the different areas of control are part of it and we are just not grasping the overview of the entire process.

When planning a site and and choosing modules, we all try to predict what modules will move forward with the next version of Drupal.

The Media module appears to be the best choice. Lots of brain power and man hours are behind this module and the design brings a welcomed solution to the end goal of using all sorts of media in Drupal from a single module.

But while searching to understand how to make this work - I noticed something that made me a bit nervous for Drupal. Something that was very common back in D 4.5 and D5 days.

When people had problems grasping the workings of a module, other modules were created that were similar in goals - but just different approaches. Duplication of efforts, but going in opposite directions.

I have no power other than to offer a suggestion - but if we could get these other maintainers to work together on Media, wouldn't we have a kick azz module - while also backing up module with support from more maintainers?

The video in #2 does an excellent job of walking you through the steps required to configure Media and Media: YouTube.

If you are still having problems with properly configuring both modules after following the tutorial, please reopen this issue with any questions that you might have.
