Hi. I'm brand new to Drupal. My first experience gives me the impression that this isn't a very well-organized project. Consider my experience creating a profile on Drupal.org:
A one-time password is sent. I log in and it tells me to change it, but doesn't provide a link to my profile editing page? Navigating there was interesting because I had to switch websites from the one I was automatically logged in to (http://groups.drupal.org) to the main site which has a very different layout (http://drupal.org/user/)
Second, how are the locations populated and organized under profile settings for selecting my 'Default time zone'? It would be really nice if I could simply enter my timezone (-5:00 CDT) like at every other forum I sign up for. Instead I get to scroll though a /very/ incomplete and equally disorganized drop-down box of regions, areas, countries, towns, provinces, states, and whatever other items made it in there.
HTH,
Mike

gregglesThe first issue is being discussed at #969940: Deploy bluecheese on groups.drupal.org.
Do you have any research to support your second claim about timezone picker being hard to use and your proposed system being easier?
I prefer the way it is now, personally.

walker2238 commentedI have to agree with lolgraphics about the timezone issue. Long lists do tend to ward of users... In my personal opinion I think that timezones should be simplifed by regions. For examples considering places like New York and Toronto are both in the same timezone... Wouldn't it be easier for just group those palces into a North America Eastern Timezone?
