I've just begun trying to use the chat feature but have run into a problem. The chatbox opens just fine, and when I type stuff in, it shows up just fine, but, and this is when using IE, when the chatbox automatically refreshes, the screen in the chatbox goes blank. If I click on the "change" button to the lower right of the box, all the chat session comes back into view, until the next auto-refresh of the screen when it goes blank again. I don't have this problem in firefox, but I can't get firefox loaded on our lab computers at school where I use the chat. This has happened on more than one machine in more than one place (three so far) so it seems to be an IE problem, maybe XP. Any thoughts beyond switching OS and browsers?

I checked the versions of IE that are exhibiting the above described behavior, and they are all 6.0.2 with sp2. Any thoughts on why the chatbox screen goes blank when using these (and possibly other) version of IE?

I am fairly certain that this bug has been fixed in the most recent versions of chatbox.module.
Please provide the version of chatbox.module you're using (it can be found on the second line of the file, which you can open in a text editor), and the version of Drupal you are using.

You need a newer version
The IE incompatibility bug was fixed in version 1.34.4.2 (and later) of chatbox.module... it looks like the newest version (designed for Drupal 4.4.x) is 1.34.4.3. Downloading the newest version of chatbox.module from the 4.4 branch should solve the problem.
