Unable to filter view by block reference field

When I try and filter a view by a block reference, I get the error:

Error: handler for node_data_field_landing_page_block > field_landing_page_block_bid doesn't exist!

In this particular case, the purpose of the filter is to find all nodes of some type with a specific bid value. I can imagine other scenarios where one would want to test whether or not the field is set.

Using views 6.2.11.

This might be a feature request.
