First, thank you for the module.

I have create an image field and set it as a cck_block, then set it in the header zone.
On the display field I have set the image field as hidden.
On the CCK Blocks, in the cck, I have set the field to show itself.

Result - I can see the block in the header + the image field in the content area.

It seems to be a problem with 7.x core: #721754: A node cannot be displayed in different view mode on its own page

So does that mean this module isn't workable with 7.x? Just found this and it solves my design problem, gutted my field is still displaying in the main content region

This appears to be a duplicate of #833730: Cck block display settings override basic node settings.

There is a tested and working patch in there waiting to be committed.
