This is just something to think about:
I suggest to first convert all units into SI-units. I call this the standard calculation unit. Then do all calculations for CO2, renewable energy, non-renewable energy (and maybe some future ones) based on the standard calculation unit.
Example: Assume kWh is the calculation unit for gas. You would then only have conversion factors for kWh into kg CO2, into kWh renewable and into kWh non-renewable. For each additional unit only the conversion factor into the calculation unit would be required - in this case e.g. from cubic meters gas into kWh gas and from cubic feet gas into kWh gas.
It might be easier to understand when you look at it in the spreadsheet available as attachment at: http://timeforchange.org/offline-carbon-footprint-calculator
According to my opinion this would make setting up additional units easier. But to be honest, I could also live without.

This was requested in 4.7. 4.7 version now closed. I am planning to rename the existing entity carbon footprint to carbon account everywhere in the documentation and the code - as this is a more accurate description. Then create a new small carbon footprint include file which will include a simple calculator for anonymous users. But it will use the carbon sources in the database.
